Upanaha Sweda

Upanaha Sweda is a specialized form of ekanga sweda, meaning "one-sided sweating." The term "upanaha" refers to the practice of tying or applying a compress. This treatment involves applying a medicated paste or poultice to the affected area, which may be warmed or applied at room temperature.

The poultice is typically left in place overnight if applied during the day, or for a similar duration if applied at night. Upanaha Sweda is commonly used to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, vathakantakam, abscesses, gout, ganglion cysts, inflammatory conditions, and joint pain and stiffness. This therapy helps alleviate pain and improve mobility by enhancing circulation and reducing inflammation.
